Found this big feather the other day. Must be from one of the big crows that visit my feeders and bird bath. I like how the light made it look a little blue on the left here.
At 11:00 AM today, it was already 90F degrees in the shade. We're supposed to hit 107F with a heat index 112F degrees by the afternoon. It's just damn HOT and no rain in sight! So enjoy the storm... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pSyYhRYeIM
The crispness of the barbs is amazing. Like a "blue hair", this crow may have been elderly. ;) The contrasting softness of the bokeh really makes the lines of the feather look even sharper. Sweet pic.
Love your photo of this feather, Maggie. I also enjoyed the rain video. It is 86 today. Loving cool weather for this time of the year through next week. I hope you find a way to keep you and Jack cooled off. It is too hot when it hits 100 plus.
@wannabe Thank you, Catherine! Let's hope we get a break in the heat soon and some rain!
@ellimae You're lucky, Ellen! The grass is turning brown and the heat is cooking the leaves on the trees. Thank you for your lovely comments! Most appreciated!
when i was a kid i used to love finding feathers and slowly seperating the pieces, they clip together like clip lock bags,,, yes i am strange sometimes lol
I agree...too hot! The thermometer on my deck registered 112 yesterday! Two bad thunderstorms with high winds. A lot of trees down, but very little rain. Stay cool!
