This mockingbird has been dive bombing my bluebirds trying to set up in one of my bird houses. It's also dive bombing the towhees, cardinals, and raspberry finches. What can be done to cease this behavior before it runs these other poor birds off? Well, after a few web searches, I found something pretty interesting. I recorded the sound on my phone and whenever I see the bully, I whip out my phone, press play and point it in its direction! I don't know if it will work all the time, but the sound runs off the bully for a little while. LOL! Who'd have thought a sound would work? Here's the link to the sound I recorded - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33DWqRyAAUw
You can tell it sits up there a lot - look at all the poop on the roof!
Great capture and narrative - thanks for the info - I'm surprised that the blue jays (normally the bully birds around here) have been acting fairly civil toward the other birds, but I'll certainly try to link if needed. Thanks.
The ones here are only interested when I put out some peanuts - then they swoop in and everybody else flies off until he's gone. He doesn't stay long though
@linnypinny I haven't seen many bluejays this year, Lin. Normally, I don't see a mockingbird, but this one is a big bully. I used see lots of mockers in the suburbs and the city. Why they're out here - beats me.
@milaniet A mockingbird out here is not a normal sight. I miss the other song birds I am used to seeing, but I think they've been run off by the bully.
@kjarn LOL! Good! How dare he dive bomb my bluebirds, raspberry finches, and cardinals.
@sherimiya Thank you, Sheri!

@ludwigsdiana Thanks, Diana! Me, too.
@wakelys They can be.
