The big one... by marlboromaam

The big one...

That took out the side gate. Good thing it wasn't anywhere near the roof of the house or the shed. Loblolly pines will snap like toothpicks under the weight of ice and high winds. They'll even topple over in whole - revealing their tap root. Phone shot.

I'd rather post images of snow!!!
Is that your fence ? A lot of work to fix it !

@cocobella The gate was smashed. The fence might be mended but the gate is destroyed. I may just put up another section of split rail where the gate is.

That may be wood for your fireplace!

Oh wow, I'm glad no one was around to get hurt.

@corinnec Can't burn pine. The sap pops and can cause burning outside of the fireplace.

@mittens Me too!

Wow.

@rhoing Yeah. I've got a mess to have cleared up.

Whoa! Poor fence.

A great shot but what a bummer re your fence!

Shame about the fence but it could have been a lot worse

Oh. The stumps on the right are strange. The verticals in the background are wonderful.

I think I'd be having any potential house damaging trees cut down.

@ljmanning Yeah.

@ludwigsdiana Thanks, Diana!

@kjarn That's for sure!

@monikozi Thank you, Monica!

@gamelee Yes. Another potential ice storm for this Friday.

Treacherous storm. Sorry for the damage to the gate.
January 20th, 2022
@dkellogg I have seen worse in South Carolina. It's okay. I never use that gate anyway.
January 20th, 2022
that was some heavy ice?
January 21st, 2022
@blueberry1222 Doesn't take much to break the loblolly pine branches in wind.
