I hope no one is tired of seeing these passion blossoms yet. There are liable to be more shots coming. I can't find a leaf or a bloom that hasn't been nibbled on by something or other. This is the common wild species that grows in South Carolina. There are 550 SPECIES that grow in Europe, England, South America and the rest of the world. The blooms from the other species are all different from P. incarnata, but similar in many ways.
You are lucky to still have yours! Overnight a caterpillar ate every single leaf of mine and just left the stalks! I was so upset to see the mess it made all over the patio! I just bought a new passiflora edulis and sprayed it with insecticide..
@wakelys Thank you, Susan! But your species makes edible tasty fruit. Right?!
@ljmanning Thank you, Laura! You are so gifted with words. You should be a writer. =)
