OK -- so the flowers really have nothing to do with my dad's WW II service. They do lend some nice color to an otherwise fairly blandly colored flat lay done with the scanner. But, honestly, the real reason for the inclusion of the flowers was my get pushed challenge from Debbie @shutterbug49 -- to do a "still life or flatlay which includes at least one flower." This evening I went out and plucked one of these little yellow blossoms, brought it in and laid it on the scanner, and then went looking for something to put with it. I ended up pulling out a box of my mother's things labeled "Personal Papers" which I thought contained some other relatively flat stuff as well as papers, hoping I'd find something appropriate. But the first thing I pulled out was a big envelope that said "WW II Things." Inside that, some of the things were pictures and items from my dad's service in the Army Air Force. He served here in the U.S. as a Link trainer instructor, teaching pilots who would be going overseas the intricacies of instrument flying. The poem, entitled "High Flight" was a favorite of Dad's. My mom had me read it at the vigil at the funeral home the evening before his funeral.
@shutterbug49 Here's a response to the challenge you gave me. If I have a chance later in the week, I'll try to put together something where the flower(s) are more integral to the theme.
