Kathy challenged me to do an abstract with oil on water. I’m posting this and a couple of others. This one used some color. The other two use multiple images of the pure oil and water—no extra color. Someday I want to take the time to try for more sophisticated results.
@randystreat Remembering now why I used a glass dish before. So the color can come from something under the oil and water. Duh! I used a metal pan this time, and added the color into the water after first putting the oil in. Not very satisfying results.
I really like the effect you have achieved by using a metal pan and putting the color in the water. I have never done an oil and water and was actually thinking about doing one last night. I’m glad I didn’t. It wouldn’t have turned out this nicely.
I like how you achieved gradients of color and between the oil and probably the texture of the pan, got an interesting texture in the photo. I say, well done you. Challenge met.
