They are beautiful birds. I thought the flower was off a coral tree not a flame tree. Here on the east coast flame trees have bell like flowers and they don't flower this time of year.
@onewing we call them Flame trees as well .. I googled as my shot today is the same tree as this and it seems flame and coral are one of the same but also flame tree is the one you talk about... what ever it is the birds like it.
@onewing Do your flame trees flower over Summer? If it's the one I think it is, we call it an Ilawarra flame tree (Native to the east coast?). They are stunning, but we don't see a lot of them over here.
"That is not "Just A Waddle". That's a fabulous bird shot. I'm not familiar with Waddles till now. But that is a great shot. Wonderful detail. Love the way you included the context of the Flame tree flower with it. Great contrast to the black and white Waddle.A fav.
I have a Nikon 7100, too. That's what I took my latest hawk picture with and my hummingbird shot. What lens did you use for this picture?. It seems very sharp.
Thank you. It was my latest acquisition, a Nikkor 28 - 300. I would have liked a bigger zoom, but it was too heavy. This lens weighs in at 900gms which I can manage hand held.
