62,000 knitted and crocheted poppies are being installed in Kings Park prior to Remembrance Day. Each poppy is a tribute to a Digger who was killed in World War One.
11,000 poppies have been installed around the Flame of Remembrance at the State War Memorial. The remaining 51,000 are being placed on the lawn behind the memorial.
Isn't it amazing how this theme of fields and drifts of poppies has caught on all around the world in this centenary year, from places like our village church to King's Park. Would love to have seen these.
@golftragic A tragic waste of life and such huge flow on effects, especially when you consider that in 1913 the population of Australia was less than 5 million.
