Poppies For Remembrance Day by merrelyn

Poppies For Remembrance Day

62,000 knitted and crocheted poppies are being installed in Kings Park prior to Remembrance Day. Each poppy is a tribute to a Digger who was killed in World War One.
11,000 poppies have been installed around the Flame of Remembrance at the State War Memorial. The remaining 51,000 are being placed on the lawn behind the memorial.
Oh thank you so much for sharing this wonderful collage.

Isn't it amazing how this theme of fields and drifts of poppies has caught on all around the world in this centenary year, from places like our village church to King's Park. Would love to have seen these.

Sure makes one sit back and think. So many young men, such a bloody waste, and for what???
November 10th, 2018
@golftragic A tragic waste of life and such huge flow on effects, especially when you consider that in 1913 the population of Australia was less than 5 million.
