Don't know where the big boys (and girls) are this year. Sure have seen very few. Do like the way the coiled tongue shows up - usually it's down into the flower. Not sure if this is a Painted Lady or American Lady. Didn't stay long enough to get a 2nd shot for better detail.
I love this. It is so sharp. Well done for getting close enough to a butterfly to take this. I can never get anywhere near before they fly off. It's so frustrating.
Beautiful capture...love the colours...I haven't seen many 'big boys' up here either yet....the odd tiger swallowtail but that's it. The milkweed is almost ready to open its flowers...hope the monarchs come soon.
