On April 10th I found the female Falcate Orangetip- and this morning, here's the male. Those orange spots really do stand out. Had very little trouble spotting him even though he is quite small.
What lovely markings!! I like what you've done to display him against the flower. I might have cropped it to focus on the butterfly with only the one flower in the shot, just to let us see even more details more closely. But it's a lovely composition.
@taffy That seemed to work well - I was hesitant because I had already cropped it and was afraid I'd lose too much resolution or get too much noise. But like this better. Thanks for the suggestion.
Sweet, the little butterfly holding the violet while he sips. I saw the season's first butterfly or moth zip through the yard a couple of days ago and dashed for my camera, calling out "Keep on an eye on that butterfly for me!" to my family that was out in the yard with me. They hadn't seen it to start with so I missed the picture opportunity. I'll enjoy yours instead.
Everything is so delicate.
Great shot.
