By now I'm sure you recognize the background - this is field along the road to our high school (out in the boonies by itself) It has become my favorite spot for finding birds. This is a Summer Tanager - love the all red coloring.
What an extraordinary photo!! Perfect details, colors, lighting, compositon and clarity!! I LOVE this photo!! I don't think we have them here!! I live in Georgia Milanie!!! I moved from Alaska to here, 38 years ago!! Since that is now more than half my age, I consider myself a southerner!! I so wish we had these birds here!!!! The color reminds me a lot of the Cardinals but nothing else. Beautiful red!! Instant FAV!!
@cashew I only have seen them the last two years - and just two or three - they are found in Georgia, too. Googled them and they reside from the east coast to the eastern edge of Oklahoma (we're almost out of their normal range) in the summers. Keep your eyes open - they are beautiful!
