Catching a glimpse of a rare orchid growing in the wild is a moment to be treasured! Conservation is critical for the survival of our native orchids. Like other rare plants, orchids survive only in their natural settings where they can pollinate and obtain the nutrients they need to grow and reproduce. Those orchids depend on mycorrhizal fungal associations to survive and reproduce.
In the picture 9 of Switzerlands rare wild orchids, found in one day.
Please note: Orchid names are always in flux and the once valid scientific names of species are not constant. Some species have been diversified or recognized as hybrids by nowadays scientist, with genetic methods. It may be that my nomenclature consists of trivial names and is outdated.
