Donald James Waters Demonstration by mozette

Donald James Waters Demonstration

Yesterday, I was at my Sci-fi writer's group and then off to the Logan Art Gallery where Donald Waters was performing a demonstration on how he did his work.

It was fascinating... he started out with a blank canvas, wrote a positive quote of his own on it in distorted writing on it in charcoal and used that quote to make the startings of his painting... from there, he starts to turn to painting around and around adding to it as he does every 20 minutes, then when he's happy with it (well, for now, anyway), he then applies a working glaze onto it, dries with a hair dryer and adds a wash to it.

And just look at those colours!

This was done in just 2 hours! He took the painting home to complete it over the next few weeks! Donald did need a bit of help from somebody - and that somebody was me! - where I got him a strong cup of coffee, plugged in his hair dryer and found a pallet for him to work off. It was all part of making his demonstration run as smooth as possible. :D

We all had fun with this demonstration... and yet I was supposed to be working behind the desk. :)
Great collage to show of an awesome piece of art

@bkbinthecity @wendyfrost @brillomick @digitalrn He was such a friendly person, and well-spoken about his craft. I totally enjoyed the demonstration... it's fascinating how other artists approach their work/craft, and how they get into their process. :D
