Soft Blanket by northy

Soft Blanket

I can't decide if I like this or not... It snowed last night... I stayed up late waiting for the church on the corner to turn off their lights (they mess up the scene) and the cars to stop rolling by... and today I played with a half dozen different crops and edits in nik sfx... ultimately i think what i really need to do is find a better place to shoot from - but driving on the snow-covered streets at 1am with a burgeoning migraine did not seem like a very good idea last night ;p

A kid pic in my other album - just because :)

Thank you so much for all the attention to my mundane plug shot... I was happy with how that one turned out and I am glad to know it wasn't just me!

Love it! So much depth!

Nice capture. There's nohing like seeing virgin snow, untouched by man or beast.

Lovely winter night mood... ;-)

I like the star burst in the lights.

Agree with Katie ...the burst of light add something to the photo--hope that migraine has calmed down.

Snow makes everything so beautiful and magical. I walked the dog last night and couldn't believe how lit up everything appeared to be in that blanket of white. The almost full moon helped I guess. I like this. You did good:)!

nice shot loved the starbursts

I like it...though I've had the same problem when I've started to process my shots--another POV would have worked better. Either way, this is great, especially with a migraine.

Are you continuing your project into next year?

Outstanding shot! I love the B&W and the soft looking snow! I hope your head feels better, migranes are the worst! Gorgeous shot here! :)

@cmc1200 yes - at least for now... you?
December 28th, 2012
@northy Yes! Two months ago I was dying to be done, now I don't think I can just quit. What would I do with all that extra time on my hands?

Beautiful

I'm pretty jealous - snow! For me, I would crop from the large (close) tree to leave just the house in the right of the frame. A bit like this: http://i.imgur.com/KHCWR.jpg It doesn't give the feeling of expanse, but you're right, a different location to shoot from could bring across that feeling more effectively.

This is beautiful! Stunning B&W!

Love the shadows on the carpet of snow.
I love snow, but I don't like driving in it.

Nicely captured....a lot of depth to this. Hope your migraine is better.

Love the light on the house on the right

Beautiful snowy night scene!

Your enthusiasm is fantastic to get your photo. Stay safe. You don't want to end up frozen to a camera to be discovered in a glacier a few thousand years from now. Great night scene

@cmc1200 @northy I hope you at both staying on. I have just signed up for third year though, technically my 730th photo won't be till April. I was a bit slack to begin with in first year, but feel less pressured now. I enjoy exploring images but also the contact with others. We could almost write the script to a soap opera but we all get glimpses into other lives and build relationships. Perhaps this in the end is more enjoyable.

This is pretty! Reminds me of a scene from "It's a Wonderful Life".
