nuit blanche - avataq by northy

nuit blanche - avataq

Vikki ( @summerfield ) and i went to Nuit Blanche last night... it's a free, immersive, all night event in Toronto... you basically wonder around and experience a variety of art installations... the theme this year was "the space between us".... from the info they provided: "...this year's curatorial theme invites artists to transform the city with works that tell stories about their connection to place, culture, community and the environment. With a focus on urban, polar and Pacific landscapes...."

We only stayed for a few hours, but it was fun and fascinating!

the above is part of the avataq exhibit... "an avataq is a traditional inuit float, used by hunters to track marine animals that is made from the skin of one seal, inflated with air, plugged and tied off."
It looks to be a very popular event... looking forward to hearing more about this exhibit.

I cannot believe it's four years ago He and I wandered around the light-art with no idea what was going on or what it was about!!

How big was this avataq? The perspective is playing with my brain!!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond big! Huge even! The description didn’t give the size but it really did tower above the crowds…. No forced perspective here!
