Got air? by northy

Got air?

Playing with exposure :)

Curious as to your thoughts about the shadow... i did try cloning it out, but to me it kind of lost the feeling of being airborne as a result...

Another crazy exposure shot in my main album:

Much prefer with the shadow, gives a sense of place. Love all the whiteness and the expression.
February 18th, 2013
Definitely keep the shadow. That's what I love most about it!

Yeah, the shot minus the shadow would just look like a kid in the snow.
February 18th, 2013
Keep it, for sure.
February 18th, 2013
Definitely leave the shadow! Great capture!

Great b&w

Agree with the others, the shadow gives the sense of airborne.

Def keep the shadow, much more sense of movement for sure.

Needs the shadow, just a dude on a white background otherwise :)
February 19th, 2013
the shadow adds context. :)

I like the shadow!

Love the shadow....love the contrast between the black and white.

love it

The shadow is what makes it. You can see the snow below because of it.
February 19th, 2013
I think it would lose its 'space' if you took out the shadow. Wonderful catch of air!
February 19th, 2013
You are right! Keep the shadow.
February 19th, 2013
I agree - keep the shadow. :-)
February 19th, 2013
Absolutely leave it in. You would lose any reference to scale and context with it gone. Just like many others above have said. I might have considered purposely adding vignettes or other artifices to point towards the subject in an otherwise blown background? I am not a fan of the "significantly overexposed" effect (blown out to be more blunt about it), but then that's just me.

I think the shadow is important in depicting the action in the photo.
February 19th, 2013
Without the shadow you have no motion.
February 19th, 2013
Wicked! Like time stopped. Agree that you need the shadow - it's a motion shot, so having something provide that context is important.

Nice capture!
February 19th, 2013
Yep definitely keep it in. Looks very interesting
February 19th, 2013
Never ever remove the shadows :)
February 19th, 2013
@janim yes boss! :)
February 19th, 2013
Great high key shot but you definitely need the shadow otherwise you couldn't tell he was in the air!
February 19th, 2013
Oh I love it! What awesome timing and I love the shadows!! Super duper capture my dear :)
February 19th, 2013
Great capture - the shadow is vital!
February 19th, 2013
The shadow makes the shot!
February 19th, 2013
super-cooooool! :)
February 19th, 2013
this is cool
February 20th, 2013
The shadow is really important and needs even greater emphasis I think

The shadow totally grounds this! Love it!! I haven't figured out what you're doing yet (LOL!), but it's looking great through my eyes!! Is this the minimalist approach? :)
February 27th, 2013
@tctime tx TC... not sure what you'd call it... i just kinda like what happens sometimes when overexposing... and then i feel a need to exaggerate it into surreality ;p

Fabulous!
