When this art style was introduced for the artist challenge, I was unfamiliar with it. So as I usually do, I followed the provided links to "learn more about it". Several examples posted were actually familiar to me, although I'm not sure where I saw them first. The Wave is probably the most famous painting of the Ukiyo method, so I've been keying off that painting as I've dabbled with my own version of Ukiyo. The most outstanding part of The Wave to me is its accents of white and blue which is what I was trying to incorporate into today's version of my picture. This is fairly close to what I was looking for, but to me, it's still not close enough to the Japanese original.
@pflaume Thank you Lisa! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @jackie8 Thank you Jackie! Yes, this style is taking longer than I really should spend on the processing, but I'm enjoying it! And thank you so much for the fav! @anazad511 Thank you Ana!
@lisabell Thank you Lisa! This one is a real challenge to me because the artwork is so intricately outlined and it's difficult to put that into a photo! But, I'm going to keep trying!
Wow ... this looks like a fascinating challenge Ann. And not an easy one either. Love your presentations ... congratulations. You did a fantastic job!!
Thank you Cindy, Diane, Donald, Laraine, Phil, Sally, Kathryn, Karenann and Henri! I'm glad you all have liked this and responded favorably. It certainly is a creative style to translate into photography.
Thank you Nada, Damon, Alia, and Carole! I appreciate your feedback. It's helpful to balance the "second guessing" I do in translating something that's more modern to something rather ancient!
@automaticslim Thanks Andy- as always each step became a progression to something else. I'd think I'd figure out how to do something, but then it wouldn't quite be what I wanted so I'd have to go back to the "how" of the picture and decide if I could do it another way.
