This is something we don't see too often. Due to our recent lengthy deep freeze, the Delaware River has frozen over and large chunks of ice have piled up within its banks. And they are not small! Just compare them to the person out there climbing on them!
@ggshearron Thank you Glover! I wouldn't recommend walking on this- especially since it's starting to soften after a few warmer days, but it was a great photo opp from the shoreline!
He doesn't seem preoccupied that they would break under his weight and that he might fall in the freezing water. You took a wonderful capture to show us the weather conditions there.
A beautiful winter scene and nice use of the red colour.
( that city is on the coast side on a halve hour drive, and inversters love to develop it with more huge buildings. Now there is a law that stops it )
Great snow textures! I like the red of the backpack too.
I'd love some of that snow here - we're getting temperatures of 30-40C (86-104F) for the rest of this week. Bleugh!
Hopefully this will not cause the problems some notherly places have when the ice melts in their rivers. An interesting look. The person really provides perspective for the size of those blocks.
Thank you so much one and all for the views, comments and fav!
@littleconnie You would have made a smart choice! I am not on the ice, I used a zoom to get this.
@filsie65 Yes, and yes- It is a naturally monochrome scene which I converted to black and white and then painted the color back in on the person so they would stand out more.
@alia_801 It's too bad we couldn't exchange a couple of degrees with one another!
@radiogirl This is probably more familiar to you than it is to us. It's very rare that we have such cold weather for so long.
@randystreat There could be some flooding, but the Delaware is pretty deep so for the time being it should be ok.
Thank you again for taking a look at this shot- I'm a little worn out tonight, so after catching up on your views and comments I'll be heading to bed- but I shall return to look at your pics tomorrow.
