The first thing I spotted on the Woodland Trail was a decaying piece of Birch (I think, but it could be Beech instead) wood and these golden leaves which had fallen on it.

I did several webinars recently on contemplative photography (a new way of saying slow down and really take in what you're photographing in mho!) and it has inspired me to delve more deeply in the particulars of my surroundings when I pick up my camera. This shot was inspired by one of the photographers I listened to (and the current artist challenge photographer) Sarah Marino. It's definitely my style and not hers, but I followed her principles and I think this will be my favorite shot of the day-ironically one of the first I took.
