Flaming Furies by olivetreeann

Flaming Furies

A shot of the peaches before Betsy and I picked them. This variety was called Flaming Furies. Their color was a beautiful reddish-orange and they were delicious!! Peaches such as these are called "freestones" because the flesh falls easily away from the pit (or stone). Most freestone varieties are picked later in the season. You can learn some very interesting things when you pick your own fruit!

I think the name is wonderful. Kudos to the marketing genius who came up with it. I love the light shining through the leaves to further enhance the beauty of these succulent treats. When you pick fruit yourself, it tastes all the sweeter.

@kerristephens Thanks Kerri- it was overcast that day, but under the trees, the daylight looked really bright.
@allie912 Thanks Allison- you're right! They were delicious and I wish I'd brought more home!

@digitalrn Thanks Rick, they were delicious!!
@mrssmith Thanks Carla- I haven't had any "luck" with the ones I've bought in the store. These were wonderful and it made me wish we had a grove where I could pick them in PA.

I love peaches! I've been told that they CAN'T be grown in Wyoming, but that doesn't stop me from trying in my backyard!

@yomamabinrotten Thanks Wyoming- that's interesting. Do you know why they can't be grown in Wyoming? I'm guessing it has something to do with the temperature and soil.
