Bridge to Forsythia

For Easter Sunday
The Day of Resurrection

The day of resurrection! Earth tell it out abroad,
The Passover of gladness, the Passover of God.
From death to life eternal, from this world to the sky,
Our Christ has brought us over with hymns of victory.

Our hearts be pure from evil that we may see aright,
The Lord in rays eternal of resurrection light.
And listening to His accents may hear so calm and plain,
His own "All hail!" and hearing may raise the victor strain.

Now let the heavens be joyful. Let earth her song begin;
Let the round world keep triumph and all that is there-in.
Let all things seen and unseen their notes of gladness blend,
For Christ the Lord hath risen, our Joy that has no end.

Words written by John of Damascus, 8th century
Music composed by Henry Smart 1836
Translated by Rev. John M. Neale, 1862

Taken on my outing with Jeff April 6th. It seemed like the perfect picture for Easter Sunday. I added the hymn as it was one of my favorite Easter hymns as a little girl. I don't know if I really understood all the words then, but when I look at them now, I marvel that they were composed in the eighth century and still speak to devout people today. For those who believe, the joy of this day has no end!
How beautiful!!

@summerfield This is the HDR feature in iPiccy. I think it's the best of all the freebies online.
@sangwann Thanks Dione- that's what caught my eye when I took the shot.

Oh, so lovely. I need to check out IPiccy. I have Picnik down pat and naturally when I get something figured out it is either changed or discontinued. Never fails! Anyway, this is a fav for me.

@cimes1 Thank you Carole! I don't use iPiccy for a lot but I do like their HDR effect and a couple other things (like the old paint effect and the painting effect). As for Picnik, I've found that Picmonkey is the best replacement for it. It was designed by former Picnikers and operates in pretty much the same way. They have been adding some new things on recently and I've been using that quite a bit.
