I felt compelled to offer a Renoir shot for the artist challenge which appears to have been lost in the 365 shuffle. This is the master's signature from one of the paintings I saw in Boston. Even his autograph is artistic!
This signature appears on his pastel on paper picture entitled "Boating Couple", circa 1881. It assumed that the couple is the artist himself and his wife Aline.
there's a lot of challenges that people are coming up with, along with the existing ones. maybe you should extend your deadline just so peeps would be able to breath as all other challenges seem to have the same deadline.
Thank you Kerri!
Thank you Vikki! I looked at what was posted yesterday and am considering that. I probably will. But I think what is happening is that there are so many "Do you like the way I processed this?" "I so excited!" and "Please be my friend on facebook" posts lately that the important things get bumped off right away. Now, I have no problem with those personal posts, but I would like to see a separate column for them. That way the challenges stay fresh. Was thinking about sending Ross a note after this challenge is finished to tell him about my experience doing this challenge and to offer that suggestion.
@sparkleplenty1 Thanks Joyce- that was the deciding factor for us when it came to the 2 museums. We knew we'd like both, but because we were trying to do a lot in as little time as possible, we decided on the Fine Arts. Maybe some other time for The Gardner. @worthitall Thank you so much Rashella! Believe it or not, this signature appears on a painting that is at least 6 feet tall- life size!
Very creative, wonderful idea. I agree with you that there is so much happening on the discussion board that many subjects barely make a showing. Also so many challenges that sometimes it's difficult to decide what to do! I would love to have a go at this challenge but would definitely need a few more days to sort it out!
@henrir Thanks Henri! At first I was shooting the whole picture, then suddenly the signature jumped out at me, so went in for a close up. I saw another person somewhat watching me as I did this and the moment I walked away, I saw another woman walk up to the picture and do the same thing! @salza Thanks Sally! I think I will extend it. I would like to feel that I've given everybody enough time. @kandernob Thank you Karen! @sangwann Thank you Dione (this isn't the actual signature, it's a photograph of it on one of his paitings). @prttblues Thanks Bev! All I have is a photograph- it's not an official signature. @automaticslim thanks Andy. I shall extend it because I do want people to participate in it.
This is great Ann. I love this challenge and even had a picture I was working on but I was never able to process it to look like a painting. If you extend the deadline I'll keep working on it :)
@tara11 Go for it Tara! I did extend the deadline to Tues. so I hope that's enough time. Right now there are only 8 entries, so I'd love to have a few more.
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! I was photographing the whole painting when my eyes realized that the signature was standing out as well by the way he signed it. So I decided to do a close-up shot. As I was taking it I sensed someone was watching me (not in a bad way!). When I stepped back to go on to another painting I saw another woman go in close to shoot the signature. lol I guess I was as inspiring as the Renoir itself.
@olivetreeann That's cool that you were an inspiration. There are a lot of inspiring people on 365...I never think of some of the things I see here. I am a follower/copier by nature. :-)
Which one of his paintings was it off? Creative idea for the artist challenge. I agree with you, I think people are not using the right thread categories & every thing else gets pushed down the line. I noticed the artist profile has 96 followers. Did you find out who is in charge of it?
@henrir lol Henri, they say imitation is the highest form of flattery (o:
@wenbow Thanks Wendy- I added the info above. It's from a pastel on paper called "Boating Couple". They had this one behind glass so I was unable to get a clear shot of it without any glare- but I was able to get the signature at least. I have been swamped with different responsibilities this week so the only thing I was able to do was track down the page. When I went to leave a comment asking how to connect my turn with the page, it wouldn't let me leave a comment. But then I noticed that it was posted early in 2011 and it doesn't seem to have been touched since then, so I'm not sure what's going on with it. Maybe I looked in the wrong place- I didn't see those followers. Hmmm....
