Painting With Renoir 3

Believe it or not, this is not a painting! It is a life size sculpture replicating Renoir's Boat Party by Seward Johnson. Re-titled "Were You Invited", Seward's version also includes another table (out of view here) at which the artist and several of his friends are seated. The host of Renoir's party stands before them bothered that they have crashed the painting and are consuming the food and beverages meant for the guests. The woman in the foreground with the dog would eventually become Renoir's wife.
Great sculpture of a famous beautiful painting.

@anazad511 @kerristephens @jesperani

Thank you Ana, Kerri and Jennifer. It's interesting that the sculptor has taken something two dimensional and made it 3D and I the photographer has taken that 3D sculpture and made it 2D again.

Where are this sculptures. Are they a permanent display? I got the picture out from my bookshelf and I can see how clever these people are positioned according to the 2D paint. It would be interesting to see you shot from a completely diffenrent angle.

@daisy Thank you Kathryn!
@digitalrn Thank you Rick!
@yaorenliu Thank you Yao! These sculptures are all located out of doors on 42 acres of land in the state of New Jersey. This parcel of land used to be where the NJ state fair was held. When the fair moved north to Sussex County, NJ, the artist Seward Johnson had a vision to turn this area into an interactive place to display art. The land was purchased by a foundation and turned into The Grounds for Sculpture. If you'd like to see a little more go to www.groundsforsculpture.org I did take some other shots of this piece from different angles because Renoir is my favorite artist and this has always been one of my favorites by him. But of all the shots I took of this piece, my favorites were the close-ups of the different party-goers' faces. Maybe I will post one or two in the future.
