We drove along the coast today south from St John's stopping off to take photos along the way. We went down into each cove and admired the pretty coastline. In Tor Cove we saw this boat just leaving the jetty and where I first thought they had dogs in the boat I then realised it was goats. They were taking them over to the island you can see in the shot.
When we drove back up to the road which ran through the little place called Tor Cove we saw a tiny shop with the sign outside saying "Running the Goat". It was a printing shop which had old printing presses. They sold books and cards. When we went in I asked the girl serving what the connection was with the goats as we had just seen some.
It seems there is no connection. The goats are taken out to the island each springtime for the summer and then brought back to be slaughtered. The name of the print shop was the name of a Newfoundland dance. Very spooky!!
Many thanks for your comments and Favs on my images - much appreciated!!
This reminds me of some sort of old fable... The goats are going to have a wonderful summer, but the end days are near! It was, indeed, an interesting sight to see!
