As you all know I did not actually see a moose on my trip to Newfoundland. Very disappointing as everyone else seemed to have a moose story!!
At the airport I had a problem at security because I had a moose bone carved letter opener in my hand luggage. I had completely forgotten I had bought it and it was wrapped up with the other presents I had bought. Of course they could see it on the X-ray and had to search my bag and couldn't find anything. Back through the X-ray again and another search and there it was!! They were very kind and I was sure it was going to be confiscated but they allowed me to go back through security to buy an envelope and post it to myself.
While outside I noticed shop and spotted this stuffed moose. Love at first sight and I had to buy him!! LOL!!
You need to come to the Rangely lake here in Maine area in the spring. Lots of moose. That time of year the black flies drive them out of the woods plus the mothers are trying to loose the 2 year olds so they will go out on their own.
How kind of them to let you post it. My daughter had her nail scissors confiscated a couple of years ago because she forgot they were in her handbag.
An old boyfriend of my other daughter flew from Boston to Chicago, Chicago to San Francisco, San Francisco to Auckland and Auckland to Melbourne a few years ago and he reached Auckland before they noticed he had a Swiss army knife in his cabin baggage.
Same thing happened to me a few years ago, I'd forgotten I had a small folding knife in my bag. Like you security let me go outside, in my socks, to buy an envelope to post it home. I was grateful, but did have cold feet. Love your little moose.
HaHa! When we drove from Banff to Jasper, Canada I was waiting to see lots of wildlife too...moose, beaver, deer, bear. We saw one deer in the middle of town in Banff, nothing on the drive at all.
@gardenfolk This made me laugh as my sister and I went to the Canadian Rockies a few years ago and travelled from Vancouver to Jasper on the Rocky Mountaineer. We then toured round that area which was fabulous. The only animal we saw during the whole visit was a chipmunk at Lake Louise!! LOL!! Definitely no grizzly bears which we were told were coming down with their young to feed on the berries getting ready for winter!! Oh yes it's the song of the moose again!! LOL!
This moose is very cute and great shot having him in front of a chunk f ice.
When I went to Canada I was hoping to see a moose and I did except it was for a fleeting second as it ran away and really it was hard to tell if it was a mouser not.
Why did you have to post yourself the letter opener? If its allowed in the country then why not in your bag?
