This is George in our garden and you can see he is on the lead. This is because over the wall at the end of the garden is a road which runs along the front at Instow. George could see dogs on the beach and every time we went out he rushed to the wall and his front legs were hanging over the top of the wall. I just cannot trust him not to make the jump which is in fact quite a drop if he wants to get to the dogs on the beach.
In fact on the beach this morning there were many dog walkers out with lots of dogs and George was so pleased to see them. His recall is normally excellent but when chasing after another dog he goes deaf. Me shouting out like a fishwife and my sister Barbara chasing after him. The final straw was when he would not leave a small female dog alone and then started trying to hump her!! Poor little thing!! He is already booked in for his castration when we go home - not too soon I think. I have decided to keep him on the lead until he is a little better at recall when there are distractions!!
Many thanks for your lovely comments on yesterday's images. The beach was empty when we arrived in Instow yesterday after all the rain. As we parked the car the sun came out and gradually the dog walkers appeared.
