It was a visit to Rhona's this morning for the boy's haircuts. Great fun was had when we arrived with all the dogs chasing round and round the garden. Finlay was first on the table and he behaved with his usual good manners. This is George who watched Finlay the whole time waiting for Rhona to start. I was amazed at how George let Rhona trim him - no fighting as he does with me brushing him!!
I took this one into Topaz effects as the background was really messy.
Best on black
Many thanks for visiting my project and leaving such lovely comments!!
PS May I ask a practical question? Topaz is something I see on here now and then and when I google it, I can't work out exactly what it is that people are using. Can you tell me what it is? It seems to do a good job of tidying up scruffy backgrounds as you say here.
@casablanca I have used Topaz Texture Effects here which I bought. It is so easy to use (and links to LR if required) and gives you lots of different textures, light effects and frames and many other things I haven't used. I also have Topaz Impressions and I use that one to make an image look like a water colour etc. There are lots more Topaz programs which I haven't yet bought.
With the Topaz Texture Effects you mask out the main object - here it's George and then you can add textures to block out the background. You have to be careful so that your subject isn't left floating and this takes a bit of practice. In this case I left a bit of the table in front of George so that he wasn't floating. It really is great fun and you can while away quite a bit of time just playing!! LOL!!
@pamknowler Ah, thank you, that is interesting. I don't have LR, but maybe it would be compatible with Affinity, so I will check that out. Thanks for the explanation of how it works, hugely appreciated.
@casablanca Topaz doesn't need LR to work. It's just that in LR I can click on an image and a drop box comes up to say "edit in ....." Could be PS or Topaz or the Nik suit of programs. You can probably do the same with your editing program or just use it independently. Good luck. Just ask if you have any more queries. I always ask Taffy @taffy who is much better than I am in Topaz!!
Both of your dogs are adorable! I appreciated reading about how you processed this picture. I only have free software and it is limiting. Maybe one day I can get something else. So far I do seem to have some fun!
