Are you looking at me? by pamknowler

Are you looking at me?

Lots of activity with the starlings in the garden. It doesn't take long once I put the food down for about 20 of them to arrive. They are so noisy and and aggressive they are really funny to watch their antics.

Many thanks for visiting my project and leaving your lovely comments.
What a fantastic expression - so sassy! Fav

These look like a different genus of starling from those with the 'spilt petrol' plumage and wonder what they are actually called.

Great capture, Starling have such amazing plumage.

@s4sayer I will have to check my bird book. I just thought a starling was a starling. I don’t know what split petrol plumage is? I was thinking this was a youngster as his head is still light colour.

'Spilt petrol' plumage is my term for starlings' iridescent plumage, particularly the chest. Never seen a bird with plumage like this. Very striking.

@s4sayer All the starlings in my garden have these heart shapes on their chests. Depending on the light depends on the colours shown. If the chest is in the sunshine it will show an iridescent turquoise colour.

Not wishing to cast dispersions on your shot which fascinated me, was compelled to look at more starlings before it's declared that I've lost the plot. Found this North American starling which at first glance looks much like yours! https://www.google.fr/search?client=safari&hl=en-gb&tbm=isch&q=north+american+starling&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiY7ZDa1dbdAhVF-aQKHS9YBAoQrNwCCD4oAA&biw=1024&bih=729&dpr=2#imgrc=MIGVqxQmj64_oM:

Despite the hearts all over him, he's looking rather angry
