Final shot for today on my trip down memory lane. Seems perfect for Remembrance Day. I had to share this shot taken at a photographers. My Nan and Granddad Edward Morris and Ellen Bertha Morris known as Nell. What a handsome couple they were and just look at her wonderful hair!! I love the way they never smiled in photos back then - a very serious business!!
I wonder if the clothes in this shot were provided by the photographer as I thought there was never any money in the family and they do look very well dressed. Mind you they had enough money to visit a professional photographer - I wonder how much it would have cost?
It must have been a special outing then to go to the studio and get your photo taken. Both my grandmothers had that hair style which I think must have been very popular in that era. Thanks for sharing!
They do look very grand don't they! I've often wondered how much people paid to have these type of photos done because my family photos which I've got from Mum have these type of photos among them but I have no idea who they are! I shall have to dig them out and take a look. Fav by the way!
Lovely old photo. I wonder what year it was taken? I watched a programme recently that said during the Great War people often had their photo's taken before the men went away to war.
@jillhempsall not sure what year it was taken or if it was a special occasion! How I wish we had got my Nan to talk about my Granddad and about her early life!
It does look very posed, although he looks like he might burst into a smile. Her hair is something else! Imagine trying to put it up like that. So interesting.
