My Friday people this week is Catherine seated in the navigators chair in a WWII Lancaster Bomber, one of the people that shared a taxi run with in "Just Jane", Catherine explained she had always wanted to see inside a Lancaster and sit at the navigators desk as her uncle Ken was a navigator on Lancaster's during the war completing more than 35 missions, he survived the war and when pressed would tell his sons what he got up to in the war,
one story she remembered was taking seven men from a pub in Lincoln late one night to RAF Scampton on his motorbike and sidecar without lights and all of them including himself well under the influence of alcohol, dangerous times on the ground as well as in the air.
What an experience in the Lancaster for Catherine - and being photographed too! I can imagine some of the riotous times folk had during the war, even if only to keep their spirits up!
@quietpurplehaze Thank you for your comments Hazel, sound like quite a fun loving young man, didn't get time to ask Catherine more about her uncle Ken, plus her husband would have been asking my intentions if I spent time talking with her after we got off the plane, lol:)
@miata2u Thanks Peggy Catherine loved every minute and said its something she will never forget, (don't know if it was the ride in the Lancaster or meeting me she was talking about, lol:)
A lovely shot of a lovely lady. What a great experience for her and memories of her uncle.
I remember many antics at pubs around Scampton when we were there too, so things don't change much.
@onewing Thank you for your comments Babs she loved every minute, I was at a family barbecue last night and speaking with my son-in-law Terry also ex RAF (aircraft avionics) from some of the stories he told us they still get up to mischief every where they are posted:)
