One of the Yorkshire Air Ambulances over flew my house very low this morning just had time to grab my camera and take just one shot no time to set up my camera, it was coming in to land at the village school playing field, could not find any information on the emergency, was on the ground for about thirty minutes then flew off in the direction of Leeds Hospital:)
@365anne Thank your for your great comments Anne, would have liked to slow the shutter speed to have more blur on the rotors it was still set at 1/1000 second from yesterdays shots but there was no time:)
@pcoulson Yes, I can see how some motion blur would have added something to an already great shot, I am always scared that this sort of thing will happen to me and I wont have time to get the shot I want!
Always a daunting sight when you see the air ambulance. The Westpac Helicopter lands quite regularly in Nelson Bay especially in summer when the tourists are here. One death in the water last week.
@onewing Thanks Babs must admit an unfolding drama did not cross my mind, all I could think of was getting the shot, I did however try to find out what had happened but without success:)
@stray_shooter Thank you for your comments Ron our grandson was at nursery in the school at the time, lots of excitement around the school as the children watched it land in the grounds, a member of staff told my daughter it was for a driver in a road traffic accident and the playing field was the best place to land the helicopter the driver is now in safe hands in Hospital:)
Gosh, that's a good tale behind this great image, of such a vital service.
Thank you for the update on what had occurred..
Your image is beautifully clear except... you managed to capture some movement in the rotor blades, well done!! mine are usually caught static. Blur is much better.
@bella_ss Sorry Sheralee missed replying to your lovely comments, the rear tail rotor blades are geared differently to the main rota blades and rotate at a much faster speed hence I got it right by default, lol:)
