Former 2006 MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden and current World Superbike rider died five days after being involved in a cycling accident in Italy, he died on 22 May 2017 at the age of 35 years, known affectionately by all as the Kentucky Kid he will be sadly missed.
Nicky was due to race for the Red Bull team on a Honda CBR1000RR #69 at this weekends World Superbike meeting at Donington Park, the race organisers arrange a tribute with a book of condolence placed next to his bike and his photograph for all to sign, at lunch time on race day 1 a one minutes silence with fans and race teams was observe on the main straight, as can be seen it was well supported and a fitting tribute for a great racer and wonderful person always smiling and he always having time for everyone.
Such a tragedy, goes to show what a dangerous sport this can be.
I had Elizabeth here yesterday for the day while David took John to a hospital appointment in Newcastle and she mentioned about the TT races on the IoM and the accidents that occurred over the years. A dangerous sport the world over.
@onewing Thank you for your interesting comments Babs, Nicky like all other racers switch off to the dangers of the sport and just love what they do for a living, Ironically Nicky was killed in a road traffic accident whilst out for a training run with friends on bicycles in Italy:)
