Prairie Crocus by pdulis

Prairie Crocus

The prairie crocus is the first plant to bloom on the prairie each year. Funny thing is I don't live on the prairie and its one of the first to bloom in our garden in Ontario, Canada. The prairie crocus are poisonous when eaten, and irritating when they come in contact with the skin - so watch out!

This is similar to our pasque flowers that bloom at Easter time. I love the light on the edges, showing those delicate hairs.

@caterina - thanks Caterina - the trick is the Lens Baby lens - soft lens adapter - macro lens adapter on top and then a steady handy as you try to shot :)
