Finally, a good rose bloomed this month. The first one had a bite eaten out of it, and bloomed with holes like Swiss cheese. The second bud was eaten completely by a squirrel. This third one came out fine. It's smaller than a few seasons ago, but I'm so pleased. Yay!

How do you stop squirrels eating roses? It must be almost as bad as our possums doing the same thing but not as bad, We don't have possums or squirrels in this particular neighbourhood where we live. Just have to take notice if aphids start- tiny white spots.
@maggiemae Thank you for your comments! I can't protect the buds. One year squirrels ate them before they could bloom. Thankfully, it's more infrequent now. When I plant something new, I put chicken wire down. They especially like to bury their nuts in loose soil. So I have broken pots and spikes to deter them.
