This is a photo from Sunday’s Green Festival at Nottingham Arboretum. Meet Jude a really nice lady who is one of Nottingham’s creatives, she was running a drumming workshop for the public at the festival. It’s not actually the first time I’ve met Jude, as Jane and I took Alfie our Grandson to one of her drumming sessions at Stonebridge City Farm on the Friday (a free event supported by the National Lottery).
On Sunday I was walking our whippet Elsie around the festival site and I saw Jude, so I went over and introduced myself. She remembered Alfie as he was an enthusiastic drummer at her event and Alfie and I had appeared in a group photo after the session.
Jude noticed Elsie and said she looked beautiful. Jude has an Italian Greyhound (very similar to a whippet, but smaller) so we had a nice dog chat. Jude made a big fuss over Elsie, but Elsie was a little nervous, she does that sometimes, she’s normally very friendly, so maybe sometimes it’s the environment we are in rather than the person.
We tried to do a “Jude / Elsie” selfie but Elsie wasn’t having any of it !!!
I did however ask Jude if she would be part of my strangers project and as you can see she agreed. I asked Jude to stand in the shade by the trees as it was a bright sunny day.
Jude’s socials and business website, BeatFeet Drumming, provides Dance & Wellbeing Workshops (where rhythm meets community) to schools, communities and corporates https://beatfeetdrumming.co.uk
Thank you for letting me take your photo Jude, Alfie looks forward to attending your workshop next week with his Mum, good luck bringing rhythm to the people (btw, I enjoyed drumming with Alfie last week)
I am loving what she does as well as this fun and full of life portrait. As a musician who used to run music workshops for teenagers, I totally agree with how much transformative power music and rhythm have. Cheering her on in her work!
@casablanca thanks casa' Alfie loved his drumming session . If you look at Jude's website , Kate Middleton attended one if her sessions while visiting Nottingham, Kate sent her a thank you note on social media ...that's a cool endorsement
Your strangers project really is a wonderful challenge…
Beautiful to read the details too…
