Dyrham Park Deer by phil_sandford

Dyrham Park Deer

On the ‘hike’ around Dyrham Park with the National Trust Ranger, we came across this lot; around 80 fallow deer sat down in the grass taking it easy. I think I may have got a bit close as they began to stand as I was taking photographs.

The park maintains a herd of around 150 deer; they currently have approximately 220 and the ranger said come October if I visited again, Venison would be on the menu in the café and on sale in a pop-up butchers.

Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
Fabulous shot.

All those spots! Some adult deer have spots, I believe!

I wondered about the spots until I looked up fallow deer. The fallow adults can have spots too. I thought only fawns had spots. Such a pretty group.
