I served in the British Army, the Royal Corps of Signals for 24 years, and in all that time in the Corps, I was actually employed in the "Y" Service, only really interacting with the Royal Corps for promotion courses. Carole and I visited the National Memorial Arboretum today, and the 1st memorial we always go to is the Y Services Memorial Garden not far from the main entrance to the site; a very simple design, a gravel pathway in the shape of a Y and a small stone plinth; all paid for by voluntary contributions from myself and thousands of others in the Army (Royal Signals & Intelligence Corps), Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.
