We have visited both Pompeii and Herculaneum today. Two towns, wiped off the face of the earth in 79AD (24th August 79AD we were told), when the 'happy mountain' Vesuvius, exploded.
I have taken almost 200 photographs today, and choosing one for my 365Project has been difficult.
I have decided, finally, on this stone jar in one of the shops in Herculaneum, reflecting on, who made it? Where was it made? Who bought it? Who used it? What was stored in, or sold from, it? Did they escape the ferocity of the Vesuvius eruption some 2000 years ago? (I hope they did)
A beautiful looking jar. Love the textures in the stone and the wall. I can imagine how difficult it must have been choosing one image from 200 hundred :)
@paul10 thank you. Choosing what pic was hard. I moved 80 pics off the camera onto my 'phone - and took it from there, deleting them until this one stood out
