Introducing the new One Pound Sterling Coin - said to be the most secure coin in the world.
This is a Union coin, with the national emblems of (left to right) English Rose, Welsh Leek, Scottish Thistle and Iris Shamrock) embossed on the opposite side to the Queen's head. There are 4 other designs, with the single National emblems (wonder what will happen if Scotland does depart the Union?)
HM Treasury believe that approximately 3 out of every 100 existing Pound Coins are counterfeit. The design of the new coin, with two metals, 16 sides, with alternate bevels or smooth on those sides, is to make counterfeiting all but impossible (for a while at least)
Believe it or not, I actually bought this coin from a pub landlady, using an old One Pound Coin as I hadn't seen one (at least she didn't charge me more than £1 for it)
@johnfalconer Your question made me wonder, so I've just googled it. Depends what article you read, and when it was published, the stats are;
1 in 20 (which may be where I've got 20 from)
1 in 30
something between 3 & 5 percent
One article states there are currently 1.5bn pound coins in circulation (article published in 2014) with 45 million of these believed to be fake (so 3% again)
Sorry for the wildly inaccurate figure in my original text (I've amended)

Sorry. I completely misread you narrative. You never said 20%!!!!
