Lennon (No McCartney) by phil_sandford

Lennon (No McCartney)

Statue of John Lennon outside theCavern Pub (opposite the Cavern Club) from our few days in Liverpool.

You can’t go far without seeing the Beatles’ influence on the city.

Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
Fabulous image.

Matthew street is so small and unassuming, who would have guessed that a certain beat club in its midst would responsible for so much!

I remember The Cavern Club well. I bet it doesn't smell like the 60s any more though. Some of the atmosphere of the time will have gone now.

Terrific :)

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Really? I prefer the bronze one of the 4 of them. This one of Lennon is a cheap fibreglass, not even real size, statue of Lennon to get you into the pub. The one of all 4 of them on the harbour front is bronze and was given to the city by the Cavern Club.

@phil_sandford I don't like Gormly's style!!! Shame this isn't metal!

Great find

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Ahhhhh. Sorry. Thought you were referring to the statue of the Fab 4 that Carole put up, not the metal men by Gormley. I agree. This one is far better than those. Gormley appears to be a bit of a narcissist.

They changed our lives !!

@onewing It’s been rebuilt. When they were looking at re-opening it, after years of being full of rubble from a previous build in the 70s, it was determined that it was unsafe. They’ve moved it up the street, about 50m, and using the original beicks, have rebuilt it, almost exactly but have made it a bit larger. I would imagine in its heyday it was very cramped and noisy.

@phil_sandford Would love to see it now, but may need a packed lunch to get there. It was cramped and noisy but that just added to the atmosphere as it does when you are a teenager.
