Fieldfare (Turdus Pilaris)

I think that this is a Fieldfare (from my RSPB book it certainly appears to be one); we saw a few last winter, when it was particularly harsh, come into the garden and take food from the feeders bvut they generally live in the hedgerows. This was one of around 6 or 7 that were in the trees in the field behind the house and, again, the RSPB book, says they can often be seen in large roosts and gather in hedgrows.

Thank you for your continued views, comments and favs.

Nice find and shot Phil - I haven't seen a fieldfare for years - they used to be regulars each winter for years - now with the loss of the near countryside to housing developments - they have shied away !

@beryl My bible, the RSPB book, says they migrate to the UK from the northern continent and will only head south in the UK if the weather is particularly poor. So very surprised to see them here in Lincs in November (there were a good dozen or so of them in the trees)

A harbinger of another horrendous winter coming perhaps?
