Today it is raining, it is raining so hard and has been all day (and from what I heard, it has been raining all night also) that from what I've heard on the radio there are numerous flood warnings across the shire.
I have two water butts, connected to each other; this morning when I went out, both were over-flowing; so much rain was coming off the garage roof it was continuing to flow into the 1st butt, into the 2nd butt and out on the ground around them, which was resembling a lake.
I rooted around in the garage to find something to block the input of water; I tried a cloth, nope that just seeped through; I tried various plastic lids of various garden sprays, trying to attch them with Gorilla Tape (everywhere was too wet for that to take effect) and then I found my 'dibber.' A dibber is used to plant seeds, well this one is being used to stop anymore water gettting into the butts. As it's tapered, it works brilliantly when, to put it bluntly, it's shoved up the pipe.
Carole says I'm sad, but there you go
Thanks for dropping by - now off to ask the chap on my front lawn who appears to be building a boat, what he's doing and why he's collecting animals in pairs
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Yup, can believe you. This weather system is localised to the East Midlands. We certainly need the rain, but it coujld have been spread over the whole month and not, as BBC are reporting, a whole month's rain falling in 12 hours !!!
That’s how it was raining here just a couple of weeks ago and now we have heat (96 F at 10 AM). It will definitely be over 100 F by afternoon. Too bad you can’t add a 3rd rain barrel. Hope your neighbor saves you a spot on his ark.
Why do I have a vision of this dibber shooting out at great speed?! ..sorry couldn't help it. Hope your flooding has stopped by now. We had some dreadful flooding here a while ago. Interesting shot you have there anyway.
