Chris and I had to run an errand at our local shopping centre, which is also home to our city's Sports Hall of Fame. We cut through the HoF section on the way to the place we needed to visit, and on the way Chris noticed this photo-- it's displayed higher than my eyeline and I would have walked right by it!
Tim is a bit older than me, but I have a brother about his age and he has a sister my age and our families knew each other growing up. The kids in the two families were on some of the same sports teams and spent many drives to/from tournaments, meals between games and such together, and even socialized outside of sports from time to time. We're not really in touch as adults (maybe on some of each other's social media? I'm not even sure, I hardly use mine!) but we'll stop and chat and catch up on the news of each other's lives and families if we run into each other when he's back in town.
Anyway, as you can see from the photo, he was inducted into our local Sports Hall of Fame in 2019; I don't know if I missed the news back then or had forgotten about it in the turmoil of these pandemic years, but either way it was unexpected and nice to see an old familiar face there, even just in a photo!
