road to misty mysterious land

Humans has pollard the Willows for more then 6000 years. In the past ( they still exist ) we did have farms of it , we call them: `` Grienden `` The Willow rods have been use for many purposes. : walls of old houses, baskets ,tools, fire wood, screens, and above all, to make mats to build and solid dykes, called `` zinkstukken ``
The roots strenght the ditchbanks, they grow perfect on wetlands.
From the Willow we also make / use : Salicylicacid
( C7H6O3 ) for medical purposes.
The pollard does n`t hurt the willow , they grow again and again . The pollard his-self gives shelter to birds and Fauna. There grow other plants / bush in it .
Old willows will get hollow stems ( openvouwen ) It does n`t hurt the Willow
Once you pollard the willow you`ve to continue it, the rods get to big and storms will overturn and damage the Willow
Beautiful! Great perspective

Beautiful photo. What are the trees on the other side of the road?
March 7th, 2012
Oh dear those trees aren't quite so big!

Look how the trees have been cut back! Wow! I love how there are so many lines in this picture- the row of pruned trees, the road with dotted lines, the path that all make me want to keep going down the road.

Wonderful shot, and so many different uses for the willows.

Some well experienced person must have pollard these trees, as they all appear so straight and even at the top. the grass is starting to look fairly green there. Outstanding dimension in your shot!

Gorgeous perspective! I just realized how different the lines on your roads are from ours. Is this a one way road? :0)

@cjwhite The small road on the right hand side is a bicycle road. The main road is a two way road with a speed limit of 60 km/hour / +/- 37 miles/hour

@tonyjsisti The green is n`t grass . It`s the grain wheat
