Interesting question! I think the house on the right has a small garden and the house on the left does not have a garden - but I would rather have the hollyhocks instead of all the other flowers!!!!!!!!

Some cities allow the inhabitants to remove some clinkers/cobblestone or tiles out of the street near the house to grow some plants. (like in the left pic.)
