The transportation of the sugar beets to the factory was done in the old days mainly by boats and sails.
In the canals however there was need the use of a horse tow the ships trough it . It was very common those day`s. We call this : ``het jagen van een schip``
To day, ( a very beautiful day) there was a nice event of this traditional trail . 30 boats are ``gejaagd`` trough this canal from the river to our city Goes .
(Please look at the rope from the horse to the vessel)

Ferry, I see that I put a FAV and comment on this pic but my comment does not appear. I must have omitted to click on 'Post comment' sorry. I think this is a fabulous shot, love the composition, leading lines, and symmetry! Congrats too!
Instant FAV. This is so beautiful and so traditional. Love the scene and the costumes. Those were the days, my friend. Nothing is the same (and so romantic) today.
How interesting and what a fabulous photo. I love the entire scene. So very beautiful. Such a beautiful horse. Do they add to the horses foot, put shoes on the bottom? Not sure what to call what I am saying. FAV
