Nehalennia. by pyrrhula

Nehalennia.

A.D. 200 there was a port/city named Ganuenta situated on 1 Km. (+/- 0,6 miles) from here. Now it is flow over by the water of the river Oosterschelde.
In that city there was a temple devoted to the Goddess Nehalennia. Sailors then pray for her blessing and pay her a tribute for a save trip/sail.
Many artifacts of it has been found now by diving. It was an important city those day`s on the N.W. borders of the Roman empire.
This statue temple is a (+/- ?) rebuilt copy of it build in 2005
as a remain of it

Very interesting story, I didn't know anything about this.

Like the architecture and the colour scheme - the power of water, as we are seeing in the floods in various parts of England.
