Piet Mondrian the famous Dutch painter has start his career in this area. ( He has lived and painted in the village Domburg) I guest he was very inspire by it .

A brief explanation of my line: Mondrian visit Domburg in 1908 and this was the time he chance his painting from figurative to luminist (modern) and his only use of primary colors. Not long after it he start to paint the first lines and surface paintings
