The leaves are gone here too. all raked together, deposited in huge brown bags and picked up by the township. the bare trees make a nice silhouette in front of the buildings.
Lovely winter scene!!! Great shot of those beautiful buildings and love the silhouettes of the leafless trees!!! Nicely composed and captured!!! FAV!!!
I love to see the structure of the trees, Pyrrhula, ans was just thinking that, too. The leaves are pretty much gone now. The building behing the trees is also veyr nice!
@777margo No. Although it`s in the city. It`s of the :
The Abbey of Middelburg ( Our Lady Abbey ) is a former abbey in Middelburg in Zeeland who currently serves as office and museum.
Since 1100 had been a monastery monks in Middelburg. In 1127 established the Premonstratensian from the St. Michael's Abbey in Antwerp here. In 1401 the abbey was put directly under the Pope. One of the abbots was Nicolaas van der Burch ( Nicholas de Castro ), who in 1559 as the first bishop of the newly created diocese Middelburg was appointed (the cathedral was informed of the St. Peter's Church or North Monster ). In 1574 there came an end to the monastic life after the protracted siege of Middelburg (1572-1574) , which ultimately triggered the capitulation of the Spanish-minded Catholic city. Despite assurances from William of Orange that clergy would be left untouched, the abbey and the Catholic faith were terminated it under duress.
The complex is in the middle of the city and consists of a more or less circular building with four large and a small tower and several ports with a central square , the Abbey Square with large trees. The complex has been restored several times, most recently after the ravages of the fire caused by the bombing of Middelburg on 17 May 1940
