The Land side of the dike by pyrrhula

The Land side of the dike

This pic. is taken nearly at the same spot of yesterday`s pic. Just on the other side of the dike. This is the road you can drive with a car.
The wire fence is necessary to keep the sheep`s in who graze the grass in summer. There are many places to cross over.
If you like to walk or drive the lot, it`s about 180 km / 110 miles long
My goodness such a long but wonderfully straight road ! A nice blue sky PYRRHULA

That dike is a blessing to all those houses along the road. Great capture.

@anazad511 That`s a farm dear Anazad. As we did had a big flood disaster here in 1953 there are not much old farms left . Most of them are modern new build houses with a new modern barn.

There is something very pretty to me in this view. I do like wide open spaces and skies. Fun to see both sides!

Lovely to see both sides

Very lovely view. Isn't it dangerous to live so close to the dyke because of unexpected floods?
February 2nd, 2015
@sangwann No. before this happen we have closed the Oosterschelde keering . A big dam with open spaces to let the sea water get in and out that can be closed by big doors on the entrance of this inlet See my pic.`on ( and the next one): http://365project.org/pyrrhula/365/2011-07-29

Great to see the other side. One of my favourite stories when I was at school in the 50s was of the little boy who saved everyone by putting his finger in a hole in the dike. Then when I taught one of my favourite books to read to the class was The Wheel on the School by Meindert DeJong where the 6 children in the school often went dike jumping.

Beautiful to see the dyke from both sides. a nice walking route or for the bike riders a perfect long stretch. I mean bicyclists not motor cyclists.
February 3rd, 2015
Like Bruni says, it looks like a great area to go biking. Love how that long stretch of land seems to go on forever.
February 3rd, 2015

How perfectly enchanting and beautiful to see a road without 16 lanes of traffic! This makes me long to get back to Lunenburg, where life is simpler!
